Unlock Vehicle Data with the BIM-01-2 OBDII CAN 11 Bit Interface

The BIM-01-2 OBD-II (J1850/CAN) Interface is your direct link to accessing a wealth of engine and transmission data straight from your vehicle’s computer (ECM) via the diagnostic port. Designed for car enthusiasts and professionals alike, this interface seamlessly extracts crucial information, delivering it to your Dakota Digital Instrument Systems* for real-time monitoring and performance analysis.

This powerful module is engineered to gather and output a comprehensive suite of data points, enhancing your understanding of your vehicle’s inner workings. On most vehicles**, you can readily access essential readings such as:

  • Speedometer: Accurate vehicle speed for performance tracking and safety.
  • Tachometer: Engine RPM to monitor engine performance and prevent over-revving.
  • Engine Temperature: Real-time coolant temperature to prevent overheating and ensure optimal engine health.
  • Check Engine Indicator: Instant notification of diagnostic trouble codes for proactive maintenance.

Beyond these standard parameters, the BIM-01-2 Obdii Can 11 Bit interface is also capable of retrieving vehicle-specific data***, depending on your ECM and sensor configuration. Potential additional data includes:

  • Intake Air Temperature: Monitor the temperature of air entering the engine, crucial for performance tuning.
  • Transmission Temperature: Keep track of transmission fluid temperature to prevent damage and ensure longevity.
  • Ambient Air Temperature: External temperature reading for environmental awareness.
  • Gear Position: Know your current gear for optimal driving and performance analysis.
  • Oil Pressure: Engine oil pressure monitoring to prevent engine damage due to lubrication issues.
  • Boost Pressure: For turbocharged vehicles, monitor boost levels for performance and engine health.

It’s important to note that while the BIM-01-2 is designed to access a broad range of data, the availability of certain parameters like Intake Temp, Transmission Temp, Ambient Air Temp, Oil Pressure, Boost, and Gear Position is contingent on your vehicle’s ECM capabilities and the presence of functional OEM sensors. Dakota Digital cannot guarantee the presence or accuracy of these variable data points as they are dictated by the vehicle’s factory configuration.

*The BIM-01-2 OBDII CAN 11 bit interface is specifically compatible with Dakota Digital’s GRFX, RTX, HDX, VHX, and VFD3 systems equipped with a black plastic control module. For BIM-compatible control boxes with a 3.5mm headphone jack BIM input, the 394194 adaptor harness is required. Please note that earlier instrument systems featuring an aluminum control module are not compatible with BIM connectivity.

**This interface is engineered for J1850 and CAN OBD-II protocols, supporting SAE J1850 VPW, SAE J1850 PWM, and ISO 15765 CAN protocols utilizing 500k 11 bit identifiers that adhere to the SAE J1979 PID protocol. This ensures broad compatibility with a wide range of vehicles adhering to these industry standards for OBDII CAN 11 bit communication.

***Please be aware that GM Connect & Cruise packages may not transmit gear position data, which will prevent the BIM-01-2 from acquiring this specific information.

For any questions regarding compatibility with your specific vehicle or ECM setup, our dedicated sales and tech departments are available to assist you. Ensure seamless integration and unlock the full potential of your vehicle’s data with the BIM-01-2 OBDII CAN 11 bit interface.
