Update Your VCDS Label Files for Improved Diagnostics

VCDS (Vag-Com Diagnostic System) is a powerful tool for diagnosing and troubleshooting issues in Volkswagen, Audi, Seat, and Skoda vehicles. Keeping your VCDS label files up-to-date ensures accurate data interpretation within the software. This article discusses recent updates to crucial label files, specifically for Instruments and HVAC systems, enhancing the functionality of both VCDS Lite and the full version.

Essential VCDS Label File Updates: Instruments and HVAC

Recent updates to the VCDS label files address critical data corrections and expand language support. The Instruments label file has been revised to rectify inaccuracies in the Oil Level data displayed in Measuring Blocks. This correction applies to both the full VCDS software and, importantly, the Lite version. Previously, the Lite version had an error in this file.

Furthermore, the HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) label file, originally available only in German for the full VCDS version, has been translated to English and is now compatible with VCDS Lite. This update expands the usability of this crucial diagnostic resource for a broader audience.

The updated HVAC label file also includes comprehensive notes detailing specific Groups and Blocks accessible in the full VCDS version but not supported in VCDS Lite. To access these notes, open the .lbl file using a text editor like Notepad and scroll to the end. This information provides valuable context for users of both versions.

Downloading and Installing Updated VCDS Label Files

To utilize these updated files, download the provided .txt file, rename it with a .lbl extension, and save it to the Ross-Tech/VCDS Lite/Labels directory. As a precautionary measure, it’s recommended to rename the existing 8Z0-920-xxx-17.lbl file to 8Z0-920-xxx-17old.lbl before replacing it. If you haven’t previously downloaded the German version from earlier threads, you likely won’t have the 8Z0-820-43.lbl file.

These updates significantly improve the accuracy and accessibility of diagnostic information within VCDS. Ensuring your label files are current allows you to leverage the full potential of VCDS for accurate vehicle diagnostics. By following the outlined steps, you can easily update your system and benefit from the latest improvements.
