VCDS DSG Basic Mode: Standstill Adaptation for UDS Controllers

Prerequisites for performing the VCDS DSG basic settings procedure for 0BT/0BH 0DE 0GC transmissions with UDS controllers:

  • Transmission Fluid Temperature: Must be above 15°C. Do not proceed if the temperature is outside of specifications. Monitor this using Advanced Measuring Values for Control Module temperature.
  • Selector Lever Position: Must be in Park (P).
  • Engine Speed: Maintain idle speed. Do not press the accelerator pedal.
  • Brakes: Apply both the parking brake and foot brake throughout the entire procedure.

Important Note: Not all transmission controllers support this function. Consult your vehicle’s documentation to confirm compatibility.

Basic Settings Procedure:

  1. Verify Prerequisites: Ensure all prerequisites listed above are met. This is crucial for successful completion. The brake pedal must remain depressed during the entire process.

  2. Access Basic Settings: Using VCDS, navigate to:

    • 02 - Transmission
    • Basic Settings - UDS
    • Basic settings of transmission
  3. Monitor Measuring Data: Click Show Measuring Data and select the following:

    • Engine speed
    • Main status of abort code basic setting
    • Status of basic setting
    • Status of basic setting data for clutch
    • Status of basic setting data; gear selector
    • Sub-status of abort code basic setting
  4. Initiate Procedure: Press Go! to begin the basic settings procedure. Expect to hear some loud gear shifting noises from the transmission during this process; this is normal.

  5. Potential Issues: Basic settings may fail if:

    • The transmission fluid temperature exceeds the specified range.
    • The brake pedal is released.
If the procedure fails, record the time of failure information displayed in the Show Measuring Data for further diagnostics.
  6. Completion: Once the procedure successfully completes, press Done, Go Back.

  7. Fault Code Check: After completing the basic settings, perform a fault code scan using VCDS to identify any potential issues.
