MK7.5 Golf R VCDS Auto Locking Issues and Troubleshooting

The auto-locking feature on a MK7.5 Golf R, controlled via VCDS, can sometimes malfunction. This article details troubleshooting steps taken to diagnose a persistent auto-locking issue, focusing on potential wiring problems within the driver’s door. The primary symptom was the inability to lock the car using the KESSY door handles, while locking functioned correctly via the key fob and interior door lock switches. An accompanying fault code, “lock unit for central locking – implausible signal,” within the driver’s door module further suggested a localized problem.

Live data monitoring of the KESSY door handles revealed that the sensors were functioning as expected, detecting open and close actions. However, the locking signal wasn’t being sent when using the handle. Disconnecting the door handle harnesses resulted in KESSY malfunction errors, confirming the system’s awareness of the components. Disabling the KESSY function in both front doors via VCDS didn’t resolve the auto-locking issue, and the problem persisted intermittently. Interestingly, the driver’s door occasionally failed to auto-lock, further implicating the driver’s side. This, coupled with the “lock unit for central locking – implausible signal” fault code, pointed towards a potential wiring fault within the driver’s door loom.

The next step involved a thorough inspection of the driver’s door wiring. This included removing the door panel and testing the continuity of each wire in both the central locking button harness and the KESSY harness. A “CANCELLED DUE TO DETECTED MALFUNCTION” error during a VCDS “test sequence for central locking” output test in the central electrics module confirmed an underlying issue, although the lack of specific details hindered the diagnostic process. Further investigation into the driver’s door wiring loom is necessary to pinpoint the exact cause of the malfunction. This systematic approach to troubleshooting, utilizing VCDS and manual inspection, is crucial for resolving complex auto-locking problems in the MK7.5 Golf R.
