I’m currently exploring options for a new scan tool for my 2019 GMC Sierra 1500. For years, my Mac Scout 6250 has served me well, but its outdated software requires a costly $1,099.00 update to be compatible with my truck. This update is essential for it to read my vehicle’s diagnostics properly.
During my research for alternatives, the BlueDriver Bluetooth Professional OBDII Scan Tool for iPhone & Android caught my attention, alongside the INNOVA 5610 OBD2 Bidirectional Scan Tool. Both of these tools appeal to me because they offer repair solutions and suggested fixes, conveniently linking to a cell phone for data display and analysis.

I am interested in hearing about user experiences with either the BlueDriver or the INNOVA 5610. What scan tool are you currently using and would you recommend it? While updating my Mac tool would refresh its diagnostics and repair database, the repair database access is subscription-based. After the subscription period, I would lose access to the repair database, although the diagnostic capabilities would remain.
One option I’m considering is updating the Mac 6250 and then supplementing it with the Bluedriver. Purchasing the Bluedriver for around $119.00 would grant me access to the free repair data it includes. Furthermore, the Mac tool has bidirectional testing and procedure capabilities, which is a feature I value. Any insights or recommendations regarding the BlueDriver Bluetooth Professional OBDII Scan Tool, specifically in the Canadian context, would be greatly appreciated.
