Autel PS100: Features and Functionality

The Autel PowerScan PS100 boasts a comprehensive suite of features designed for versatile circuit testing:

  • All-in-One Solution: Performs a wide range of services, including power injection, measurement, ground testing, polarity checking, continuity testing, and component activation.
  • Integrated AVOmeter: The easy-to-read AVOmeter allows for quick and precise voltage, current, and resistance measurements at your fingertips.
  • Instant Hot/Ground: Provides an instant hot/ground lead for powering electrical components like cooling fans and relays with a simple press of the power switch.
  • Direct Component Activation: Simultaneously use the hot and ground leads to activate components directly in your hand.
  • Circuit Identification: Instantly identifies positive, negative, and open circuits.
  • Ground Fault Detection: Quickly locates bad ground contacts, enabling fast and efficient short circuit tracing without wasting fuses.
  • Continuity Testing: Instantly checks the continuity of switches, relays, and diodes.
  • Short Circuit Protection: Features a protected circuit breaker for safe operation.
  • Built-in Work Light: Equipped with a built-in flashlight for working in low-light conditions.
  • Audio Feedback: Provides an audible tone indicator, allowing menu navigation without looking at the screen once familiar with the tone assignments.
  • Extended Reach: A 20-foot (extendable) cable provides excellent accessibility for testing throughout the vehicle.
  • User-Friendly Design: Extremely easy to use and highly reliable for accurate results.

Autel PS100 Work Modes: A Comprehensive Guide

The Autel PS100 offers four distinct operating modes for diagnosing electrical systems, easily accessible by pressing the Mode button:

DC Voltage Mode

In this mode, connect the probe tip to a circuit to measure DC voltage with a resolution of 0.1 volts, displayed on the LCD screen.

AC Voltage Mode

This mode displays the maximum voltage, minimum voltage, frequency, and duty cycle of an AC circuit when the probe tip is connected.

Resistance Mode

Measure the resistance between the probe tip and the auxiliary ground lead by connecting the probe to the circuit in Resistance mode. The reading is displayed on the LCD screen.

Tone On/Off Mode

Quickly toggle the audio tone on or off by pressing the Mode button. A short, high-pitched beep indicates the tone is activated, while a short, low-pitched beep signifies it’s deactivated. This feature is particularly useful in bright environments or when prolonged connection to circuits might make continuous audio feedback undesirable.

Why Choose the Autel PowerScan PS100?

The Autel PS100 significantly reduces diagnostic time in 6 to 30-volt vehicle electrical systems. After connecting the tool to the vehicle’s battery, you can:

  1. Instantly determine if a circuit is positive, negative, or open without repeatedly moving clips from one battery pole to another.
  2. Test continuity efficiently with the built-in auxiliary ground lead.
  3. Send a positive or negative battery current to the probe tip to test component operation without jumper wires.
  4. Test bad ground contacts instantly without performing voltage drop tests.
  5. Trace and locate short circuits without blowing fuses, thanks to the built-in short circuit protection and long cable for testing across the entire vehicle length.
