2006 Jetta OBDII Port Not Responding

The OBDII port on my 2006 Jetta isn’t communicating with scan tools. I’ve tried two different scanners (personal and AutoZone’s) with no success. Both tools work on other vehicles. The port seems to get power intermittently when I jiggle the ignition key, but it’s not consistent. Could this be a bad ignition switch or a more serious computer issue? The car is also idling rough and consuming a lot of fuel, possibly indicating a misfire.

Troubleshooting steps I’ve considered include checking the wiring connections under the dash. Has anyone else experienced similar problems with their 2006 Jetta’s OBDII port? I’m concerned about potential costly repairs, especially with increased fuel consumption and my wife’s new commute. Any advice on diagnosing or fixing this issue would be greatly appreciated.
